Not so Mute Monday~Courage

Courage Knows No Bounds

music: Heather Alexander

lyrics: Philip R. Obermarck

I looked across the battlefield,

Blood seeping from my wounds-

My comrades, they did never yield,

For courage knows no bounds-

And yet, I thought as I stood there,

Of all that it had cost-

For what we gained, it seemed not fair ,

For all that we had lost-

They spoke of honour, faith and pride,

defending for our home-

Through honour all my friends have died,

their faith left me alone-

We fought for greed, we fought for fame,

we killed too much to tell-

The devil and God were both the same,

we worshipped only Hell-

We fought it seemed for a thousand years,

a million nights and days-

Sharing one laugh with a hundred tears,

seeing clearly through a haze-

Then came that day I know not when,

beneath a blood red sun,

A-top a pile of dying men,

they said that we had won-

Another tract of land is all

the territory gained-

Will that ever pay for all

the lives here lost or maimed?

Bodies lying all around,

blood bathing them in red,

Their white eyes staring at the sun,

these, the countless dead?

I looked across the battlefield,

blood seeping from my wounds-

My comrades, they did never yield,

for courage knows no bounds-

Just a quick note...

Busy weekend planned...

Played lazy yesterday....read, played Spyro (haven't played in several years) now have ninetendo thumb...

Sewing today...have to make costumes for our June shoot. The models are coming out next week end for fittings and some preliminary shots. I have a 65 year old fella who is built and I am not sure what kind of costume to put him in to show off the physique and keep him in line with our theme...'Love Amongst the Roses'.

We did decide to use the Portland Rose Gardens as the back drop to our photos. There are some beautiful nooks and crannies and the roses should be in full bloom by Father's day.

Tomorrow we are having a BBQ at my dad's place...we are going to put his ashes in the river, it is time.

Underrated Friday~Water

Water is not just underrated as a drink, but almost vilified. Have you seen all the Designer waters on the market? They add flavors and fortify them with vitamins and minerals...until they ain't water anymore.

Can't have you drinking plain water, drink soda, diet or otherwise...tea. hot or cold...ditto for coffee, tall, nonfat, mocha...yada, yada, yada...I drink a pot of tea in the morning, but try for water the rest of the day. We all know my penchant for Rum, but I drink water before I go to bed to rehydrate...so no hangover. My personal favorite to order in a restaurant is a glass of water with a slice of lemon, refreshing!

Our bodies are made up of a large quantity of water, and you need to replenish it daily, drink water. Keep hydrated and many of lifes little ills won't bother you...do you know how many are caused by lack of water? Get up, stretch your legs and have a drink of water...helps with depression, headaches, etc...

You want to lose over 10 pounds without even trying? Drink water instead of diet soda, might lose those migraines while you're at it too...read up on Aspartame sometime.

Water flushes the toxins from your body, and we certainly live in a society full of toxins. Try soaking in 2 cups epsom salt, 1 cup baking soda and a few drops of lavendar oil...detoxify and relax you at the same time.

Great Reads~Heroic Misadventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

Okay...they are kids books...ages 9-12 or some such. But with a name like Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, you just can't pass the guy up. Written by Cressida Cowell, these are very easy reads, and lot's of fun...and there are Vikings and Dragons and Pirates (Oh My!!) what more do you need to be entertained? These are just a few of my favorites and a couple on my list to get.

It's here!

She Makes the Rules is up! I have added a link under sites of interest.

This is the FLR Forum and dating site that I helped Beta'd a while back. This is an offshoot from the VOT discussion group that was started several years back. That was rather limiting and trying to keep it female friendly and not have it turn into another male fantasy driven site was often difficult and frustrating to Deb and Barb. Barb's business has grown to such a degree that she has not had time to devote to VOT, but she has encouraged Deb and Anne to create their own place in the FLR galaxy...and She Makes the Rules is born.

The nice thing about this site is that the forum and dating areas are seperate, you can sign up for either or both. But this allows those who are in a relationship to connect with others and for those who are not, to see into that which they are striving for. There is room for the vanilla folk and places for kink.

I am looking forward to seeing it grow and hope to see some of you there. I am listed under Cursing Kate in the forum...give me a holler if you drop in.

Drugs~A Pill for Everything...

Overrated Friday~Commercials

I seldom watch TV any more and it's not because there aren't any good shows out there. (there are, just kinda hard to spot amongst all the reality crap) Mostly it is to get away from the Amerikan Propaganda Machine.

The Commercials telling you that your life is shit if you have ring around the collar, or that you are not a real man or woman if you don't use XXX brand. And the use of unreal models of humanity...most of us women are not bulimic centerfolds who are expected to work 16 hour days on a crust of bread and a bottle of designer water. Or men with 6 packs, no brains and 17 years old. Like geese, we are force fed a diet of unreality until we die of shame, hiding away in our homes because we are not the 'approved' model of humanity.

And the drug companies...spouting the latest drug you don't really need. The one that will cure your dandruff but has side effects that make chemotherapy look like a walk in the park...I'm sorry, but heartburn is not a disease nor is menopause.

And don't get me started on the Nightly News...
